Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was a Philadelphia native was raised and born there. Pam, Jazmine's mother is an ex-backing singer with Philadelphia International Records. In the age of five, her father was appointed as City's Historic Strawberry Mansion curator. She and her family moved later to the historic mansion. She graduated in 2005 from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in which she was a vocal music major. Sullivan started singing in children's chorus in the contralto position, later she joined the adult chorus a couple of years further on. Sullivan was not exposed secular music until he was a teenager. "I began singing in solos at church and a person suggested I sign up to record a gospel song at age 11. But I wasn't ready to go through with it," she says. Then, McDonald's held a contest for children in large cities. I was able to sing "Accept what God allows" in it's Showtime At the Apollo. And the audience was very supportive. She sang with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday in the year 13. Sullivan had signed her first contract with Jive Records when she was fifteen. The label recorded her an entire album, but the album never came out. Sullivan was later dropped from the record label. Missy Elliott was the producer on a couple of tracks on Her debut album. One of them was "Backstabbers" was a viral track recorded by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
